On March 20, 2025, a Hong Kong Airlines flight (HX115) from Hangzhou to Hong Kong made an emergency landing in Fuzhou after a fire broke out in an overhead compartment. The incident, suspected to have been caused by an overheated portable charging device, such as a power bank, was swiftly contained thanks to the professionalism and preparedness of the crew and passengers.
The Airbus A320, carrying 160 passengers and eight crew members, was diverted to Fuzhou Changle International Airport, where it landed safely. Quick-thinking passengers and flight attendants immediately took action, using water and juice to extinguish the flames. Thanks to their efforts, no injuries were reported, and a replacement flight was swiftly arranged to transport travelers to their final destination.
