Qantas Economy Class Flight Review
Cabin
Economy Class
I have just completed a Qantas Economy Class flight from Perth to Singapore - the first of five flights in six days and the crew were great.
Yes, I was sardined in Qantas Economy Class but that was my choice as I wanted to try no-frills economy and at 194cm I do not fit into today's economy class. Details of the aircraft and what to expect onboard are in the infographic below, but to save you from scrolling just now that seat pitch I refer to in todays economy is just 31 inch.
Yes, I had the option of paying $75 for an en exit row but opted to experience the "real" economy.
This 5 hour flight is what is termed a short-range international flight. The service for longer-range flights differs. The crew were bright, happy and on the move the whole time.
Another point is that the drive for sustainability has taken away many of the nice touches we used to enjoy. If its been a while since you have flown you will find the meal service as shown in the video particularly interesting- it sure has changed!
Just 15 minutes or so after take-off the drinks cart was out with a full choice of wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks with nuts. Next came the main course which was a choice of three, followed by ice cream and finished off with Tim Tams and coffee.
All in all, a good economy class service but I do miss the old tray service.
But what was not good was the lady in front who insisted on reclining her seat fully into my face. PLEASE it's a daylight flight have some consideration!!
NOTE: Geoffrey Thomas was NOT a guest of Qantas
