Garuda Indonesia (GA) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have committed to deepening their commercial partnership, aiming to offer reciprocal benefits for their frequent flyer program members and explore revenue-sharing arrangements for flights between Indonesia and Singapore, pending regulatory approvals.
The frequent flyer program agreement was signed today in Jakarta by Garuda Indonesia CEO Mr. Irfan Setiaputra and SIA CEO Mr. Goh Choon Phong. The joint venture revenue share agreement was signed by Garuda Indonesia Director of Service and Commercial Mr. Ade R. Susardi and SIA Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Lee Lik Hsin.
Once launched, this partnership will allow GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights operated by both airlines. The revenue-sharing agreement will support joint capacity growth, marking a significant step towards a commercial joint venture covering flights between Singapore and Indonesia.
Both airlines will continue joint marketing activities to promote tourism, potentially including familiarisation trips for travel trade and media to boost tourist traffic to Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines have a strong and expanding codeshare partnership. Currently, Garuda Indonesia codeshares on Singapore Airlines flights between Singapore and the Indonesian cities of Bali, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya, as well as long-haul routes to Johannesburg, London (Heathrow), and Mumbai. Conversely, SIA codeshares on Garuda Indonesia flights between Singapore and Bali, Jakarta, and Surabaya.
Mr. Irfan Setiaputra, President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, stated that this partnership is part of Garuda Indonesia’s strategic efforts to enhance company performance and provide added value to customers. "With a shared mission to optimize the aviation business ecosystem in Southeast Asia post-pandemic, this initiative is a vital manifestation of our commitment to strengthening our well-established cooperation," he said. He added that this partnership marks 58 years of Garuda Indonesia’s service in connecting Indonesia and Singapore, aiming to enhance social, cultural, and tourism relations while offering seamless access to destinations served by both airlines.
Mr. Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, noted, "Our partnership with Garuda Indonesia will enhance connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore, meeting the increasing demand for air travel and facilitating tourism and economic growth. By deepening the synergies between our frequent flyer programs, we can offer our loyal customers more opportunities to earn and redeem miles."
