Almost 60 flights were impacted by a pressure problem with the fuel supply to Perth Airport late Friday night and into Saturday.

The last flight to get away was a Qatar Airways A380 to Doha, although it was delayed by over an hour due to the fuel issue.

A Perth Airport spokesperson said the issue has now been rectified as at noon.

The airport has issued the following statement.

“Refuelling operations have recommenced at Perth Airport following an outage due to low pressure in the system.

“Perth Airport has worked with external experts to resolve the issue. We will continue to monitor the situation closely in the event of any further issues.

“The issue impacted a number of outgoing and incoming flights, with 59 international and domestic flights either cancelled or diverted.

“Perth Airport will now work with our airline partners to help clear a backlog of flights and get passengers on their way.

“Again, we thank passengers and our airline partners for their patience and understanding.”

Airlineratings.com is packed with information about air travel and answers questions that many of us may have thought of, but didn’t know who to ask. Well, now you do!

Airlineratings.com was developed to provide everyone in the world with a one-stop shop for everything related to airlines, formed by a team of aviation editors, who have forensically researched nearly every airline in the world.

Our rating system is rated from one to seven stars on safety – with seven being the highest ranking. Within each airline, you will find the country of origin, airline code, booking URL and seat map information.

The rating system takes into account a number of different factors related to audits from aviation’s governing bodies, lead associations as well as the airline’s own safety data. Every airline has a safety rating breakdown so you can see exactly how they rate.

Over 230 of the airlines on the site that carry 99 per cent of the world’s passengers have a product rating.

Given that low-cost, regional and full-service carriers are so different we have constructed a different rating system for each which can be found within each airline.

  1. HI Geoff, and a respected journalist for many years, the reprinting of a Perth Airport Spokesperson (Anonymous) press release, on the event does not reflect the gravity of the situation. As a specialist Aviation Reporter, I hope there will be a follow-up article, once the facts are settled. According to more in-depth reporting to date it appears to have been an entirely preventable event, and the flying public are fleeced again, with no recourse.
