Citilink, an Indonesian low-cost carrier, positions itself as a budget-friendly option for travelers seeking simplicity. True to its no-frills philosophy, the airline delivers a bare-bones experience that prioritizes affordability over luxury or comfort. On this particular route there are plenty of low cost competitors but the attractive flight departure time of 7:30am it was a crowd favourite.
Seating
1.5 / 5
I was seated in the "Green Zone," and while the seat pitch is undeniably tight, it didn’t feel overly cramped—largely because the front section of the plane was relatively empty. At 179 cm tall with fairly long legs, I managed fine for the three-hour flight, especially considering the low price I paid for my ticket.
What stood out, though, was that the "Green Zone" offers just an extra inch of legroom, bringing the seat pitch to a still-snug 29 inches. The standard seats are even more restrictive at just 28 inches. For taller or larger passengers, it’s worth seriously considering paying extra for an emergency exit row or front-row seat to enjoy a bit more breathing room.
The actual cabin looked a little worn with plenty of marks on the overhead luggage compartments.
Customer Service
4 / 5
The staff and onboard rules felt pretty relaxed which was nice compared to other airlines that are quite over the top in some cases.
Catering
2.5 / 5
The meals were mediocre at best but again what do you expect on a low cost carrier. Taste wise they weren’t bad and I’d give them a 3/5. The texture however was not great and I would rate that a 1/5. The portion size was decent and compared to a recent AirAsia flight tasted much better.
Inflight Entertainment and amenities
0 / 5
There is no in flight entertainment, no WiFi and no in seat power. Blankets, pillow and amenity kits as to be expected are also not available.
Extra Information
Citilink is a viable choice for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize cost savings above all else. However, its tight legroom, dated cabins, and strictly no-frills service mean it's best suited for short-haul journeys where comfort can take a back seat. Those expecting a little more polish or room to stretch might consider looking elsewhere—or at least be prepared to manage expectations.
