Boeing 737 Perth to Denpasar and return. We were impressed. We'd heard that Garuda had made a huge effort to "lift its game", but were still a little leery of flying with them. However, the plane was reasonably new and very clean, and the touch screen a real bonus. Legroom is restricted, and I'm under 6 feet tall in the old money. I also had a Reclinus Maximus on the flight back to Perth, which did not help in the least! Food was good and cabin crew were very cheerful and willing to help, even if a little undertrained in some areas. ("Do you have some wine?" "Yes, sir." "What wine do you have?" "We have both red and white wine, sir." "Sorry, I meant what type of wine do you have?" <Puzzled look> "We have both red and white wine, sir.") The take-off, landing and flight were uneventful, although the pilot did hold off a l-o-o-o-o-n-g way down the Perth Airport runway, which led to some interesting reverse thrust/braking when we touched down. But I've had that with many other airlines, too, so no real complaint.
