Economy Class

Flew to Mumbai via LHR T5 on a 777. I would usually travel Business on this route but was shocked to see that BA wanted GBP 2K for an economy ticket, so economy it was. I did however pre-pay GBP 40 for Window seat selection at an emergency exit to get the extra leg room and window (I get nervous without a window). When I reached my seat, there was no window and my legs were impeded by the emergency door slide. When I asked to be moved to an actual window seat, which I had paid for, the steward refused saying the flight was totally full. He lied, there was open window seats in Plus and Business (I am a BA frequent flyer). Same story on the return sector. As a very experienced BA traveller, I can tell you that Business is not all it is cracked up to be. The food is NOT restaurant quality, it is about as good as economy only served on plates with drinks in glasses, the 'Champagne' is cheap and nasty; sleeper seats are claustrophobically narrow - don't sit in the isle as your elbow will take a hammering from the trolleys, and the staff love to pass your food tray through the privacy curtain. Best value is WT Plus, seats comfortable, food about the same. First, okay but very expensive.
