Flight AI 308 – Delhi to Melbourne 7/Jul/2025 The whole Air India airline system seems to be a disaster. The airline system does not know that incoming flight was late, and passengers booked on connecting flight (same airline) were not accommodated for late arrival of the incoming flight. The outgoing flight stayed on scheduled although the poor passengers had only 30 min to make the connecting flight. Absolutely no consideration at all. In this case my flight was from LON to MEL and transit in DELHI, change of aircraft, same AIR India airline. Original booking had 2:20 min transit time in Delhi. The flight from Delhi to Melbourne was scheduled at 1:45am (7/Jul). The Air India flight from London AI162 was originally scheduled to land at 10:55pm (6/Jul). Unfortunately, this flight landed in Delhi at 1:15am (7/Jul). The passenger bound for Melbourne were not informed of any special arrangements for the outgoing flight AI308 which was scheduled at 1:45am (7/Jul) and the schedule was not modified due to late arrival if AI162. My 73 years old wife has wheelchair assistance. The wheelchair attendant practically ran to the next gate, pass security check and made the boarding gate, much to wife’s fear of falling off the wheelchair. Is this how Air India operates? My wife was in business class. I stress business class. The service was absolutely poor. First none of the electronics worked like TV, call button for assistance etc. Secondly it is a 12-hour flight. The attendants failed to serve breakfast on the excuse that everyone was sleeping. A very bad assumption especially when breakfast orders were taken. My diabetic wife suffered due lack of service. The toilets were smelly; the whole crew’s attitude was bad. Passengers had to raise their voices to get some service. I wonder what the situation was in economy if the business class was that bad. Will I ever book Air India – NEVER.

DEL-SFO flight with 15.5 hour flying time. Out of 60 seats in my section, the entertainment system was functional for only three (3) seats! We couldn't even turn on the reading light or call crew for assistance as these functions were connected to the remote of non-functional entertainment system. We were sitting in the dark for most of the time as windows were close for bring external lights. We were a family of three and two of our seats were broken and was very uncomfortable to sit down! Meal quantity was too small and no provisions for intermittent snacks. Glitches in Air India system kept refusing my United Airlines FF status (UA Premier 1K). Finally, it took my FF number, however even after issuing the boarding pass (which shows my UA FF #), Air India system deleted my FF status. So, I was stopped at the boarding gate and was asked to pay for the extra baggage which came with my FF status. It was disappointing! Finally, the gate agent managed to enter my UA FF number again and let go me! I'd NOT recommend Air India to anyone! Neither I will ever take it for myself!

United Airlines itinerary - Delhi to Dubai on Air India and then to the US on United Airlines...allowed 1 check-in bag plus extras at $100/piece. Air India refused to follow baggage protocols; Refused to follow their own baggage rules. One bag was checked in with no issues, an additional oversize package @ 8 kgs was supposed to be $15/Kg, charged $370. This package was less than 158 centimeters in total length (less than allowed max), (This package was received at at my destination broken in pieces). I was also not allowed to carry-on my bag which was 4 kg overweight, straight refusal and forced to check-in as well @ $240 charge. I was also told that it was my choice if I really wanted to fly today as intended or I would need to buy a new ticket to return home in the US. When I filed a complaint today, their customer service agent verified that the charge should have been $15/kg for the additional package as stated on their website and no other charges were necessary.

Air India removed us from our flight and gave our seats to other people without our consent. the next flight is a whole 24 hours later. because THEY CHOSE TO GIVE MY SEAT AWAY. I am stuck in Delhi FOR 24 HOURS.. I could have made it on an Indigo flight but they refused to book for me. We were with at least 7 others who were also flying from Srinagar and going to Surat. They were all allowed to get on the flight. We were physically held back. When i asked why they admitted they gave our seats away. Did they think we were going to be happy they put us in a hotel that's like a jail cell with no windows. A dump. I want a full explanation of why i was denied boarding. No responsibility. No accountability. No explanations given. I want to file a lawsuit against them.

on 5th February at Chicago, Flight AI126 was delayed at Chicago, with departure at 19.30 instead of 12.30, with change in connection at Delhi airport for Kolkata flight from 1730 to AI401 at 0650AM. We were promised a hotel accommodation at Delhi airport by the Air India telephone operator at Chicago, and also check in counter at Chicago. On arrival at Delhi airport at transfer desk at Air India- it was another story. There was lot of confusion. We were told to spend night at airport- were told that it will take 2 hours to look for hotel, and we have to return back to airport by 3 am for 6.50 flight. 4 Different AI employees looked at Boarding pass at different times. Rohit was an employee- who challenged me to complain against him, and made us wait at airport. and then got us hotel at 12 midnight, with 2.5 hours wait and aggravation at Delhi airport for no reason. That kind of service especially to business class passenger is unacceptable from Air India.

I paid for two seats for my wife and 4 year old son, flying from Birmingham Uk to New Delhi India. For reasons unknown, my 4 year old dependent son was seated in a separate row from his Mother. He was so distraught and distressed upon being separated from his Mother, he would not stop crying. Air Stewards response to my wife “Madam, the flight is full. If you wish to be seated with your son, you will have to negotiate with your fellow passengers”. No passenger was willing to facilitate and my wife spent the entire 8 hours with my 4 year old son sat on her lap. This was so uncomfortable that she developed back pains. Repeated appeals to the Air Stewards were met with the same response outlined above. To separate a 4 year old child from his Mother is INHUMANE. I paid for two seats and expected that my dependent child would be seated next to his Mother. The fact that my wife and son were literally left with no choice but to occupy ONE seat is a disgrace. And the customer complaints process for Air India is not fit for purpose, I am being ignored.

I travel by Air India rarely. But decided to try it since the Tatas acquired it. My flight on November 1, 2022, AI 905 Dubai - Chennai was very comfortable in seat 2D. Of course the plane was very old. The saftey announcements were antiquated. Entertainment systems were absent. And the seats had limited reclining. But the ticket was cheaper by 40%! So I was happy to accept this shortcomings. And the plane was on time. However, the seats were clean. The 2 lady flight attendants were very attentive and empathetic, not just to me, but to all passengers. I had ordered a gluten free meal and they made sure I was comfortable with it. They served and helped as if it was natural to them. On other airlines, the flight attendants mostly behave as if they are doing you a favor, that they are very busy and you are a burden, even in Business Class. But these 2 ladies were a credit to Air India. I don't know their names but hopefully Air India will commend them too.

Travelled from Paris to Delhi on 3rd June 2022. Our flight got cancelled after waiting at runway for 5 hours and they left us in airport for 24 hours without food, water and accommodation. No boarding pass, further communication and follow up with us...we some how managed to reach the gate on next day and reached Delhi. Our bags yet to come...it is been more than a month. I tried to reach their customer support by phone and email and they never respond. Some times they pick up phone (very rarely) and then say will get back to you...that's it.

When I entered the Air India plane, there was a slight sensation of stale air. Apparently they had not used a air freshener before boarding the passengers.. During the 15-hour flight from Vancouver to New Delhi, none of the tv screens in the plane was working. An apology for this failure was announced over the speakers. All the passengers had to endure the sheer boredom throughout the 15 hours. AC too may not have been working because the air was humid and stuffy. None of the cabin crew came around offering water or other services at any time. So mothers with infants had to go to the galley and fetch the water themselves. Throughout the flight people were walking up and down the aisle to fetch water to drink. For lunch they also put the snack meant for tea, so crew can be spared the effort of serving again. It was so deplorable I cancelled my return trip by Air India and booked on Lufthansa instead, even though I lost a substantial amount of money by doing so. Never again Air India in my life and anyone else I can persuade not to travel on this pathetic airline.
